Description
Euphorbia Tithymaloides (Pedilanthus Green) Plant is commonly known as the devil’s backbone. It is a popular, erect, perennial, succulent with leaves glabrous and acuminate in shape, with smooth edges. The leaves have a shade of dark blackish green hue.
The veins in the leaves are pinnate which resembles a ladder. This evergreen shrub has zigzagging fleshy stems with thick waxy deep green symmetrical leaves and produces star-like non-fragrant clusters of red flowers.
This succulent is native to Tropical America and is generally found in house gardens. A wide variety of this plant with varied shades of leaves from variegated to darker shades of green can be found.
These plants are basically used as hedge plants while landscaping gardens. These plants are used in these spaces as animals are not much fond of them and the structure of the leaves gives a catchy look to the hedge/ border.
This sturdiness of the Pedilanthus plant makes it a carefree indoor plant. But the pets should not come in contact with it as it is poisonous for animals. It is a sturdy plant that can sustain itself in well-drained sandy soil.
